The Jon Venables case.

I am appalled that spending huge amounts of money on rehabilitating this
young man hasn't worked.
I think that whatever he has done,he should be punished for.
What I don't understand is why the public, and Mrs. Fregus in particular, feel that they need to know all about the case.
What difference will it make?
The offence(s) have been committed now.
Let the law take it's course.

Re: The Jon Venables case.

Am inclined to agree here althea they must let the law fairly run its course but if he is guilty of a futher crime I hope his past licence failure weighs so heavy against him they somehow manage to lose the keys this time ... he has had more than his fair chance complete with new identity at tax payers expense and seems to have learnt little respect for the law.

Re: The Jon Venables case.

I have heard on TV that Jon Venables has been given two warnings about breaking the terms of his licence before being arrested. If this is true,it's disgraceful.
As soon as he broke the law again,he should have been arrested again.
If you are a motorist and commit a motoring offence, the full weight of the law comes down on you.If you are a murderer, you can get away with serious crimes.

Re: The Jon Venables case.

I see a newly appointed expert is trying to make a name for herself by saying that the age for a criminal trial should be raised as even young murderers would be scared by an adult trial. <shakey head thing>

Re: The Jon Venables case.

I think, perhaps, the Americans have it right on this one issue, where individual cases are assessed as to whether or not they are mature enough to stand trial as an adult, regardless of actual age.

Re: The Jon Venables case.

I think development happens at a faster rate these days and many teenagers are as big and strong as men.
My OH has a saying "If you do a man's crime you take a man's punishment."
